Silurian period (443-419 million years ago), from the 'Scyphocrinites Limestones' of Boutschrafin, Erfoud, Morocco, the matrix measures 29 x 27cm
Note: In the vicinity of the town of Erfoud, Morocco, prospectors carry out an extremely dangerous extraction process to reach these fossils. To reach the crinoid layer the workers must dig deep vertical shafts, sometimes 30 feet in depth, then tunnelling horizontally along this layer to extract plates of crinoids.
